Skinfood Black Sugar Honey Mask

June 12, 2017

The end of another term means late nights, lack of sleep, stress, projects, and of course, finals. With all of the deadlines and things to do before the last day of school, my skin started to show signs of stress with breakouts, dryness, and dull skin. Since I work at a Korean fashion and beauty boutique, I’m able to try out tons of skincare and beauty products to help bring my skin back to life. It was the perfect time to try out a face mask, and I was looking forward to seeing the results from the mask that I was able to take home.

As soon as I got home from work, I took off my makeup and was ready to try the Skinfood Black Sugar Honey Mask out. It is a gentle exfoliating wash off mask that helps to reduce dryness, redness, and irritation. The container holds 3.52 ounces, which is enough for several uses. Don’t be alarmed by the strong honey scent, the scent doesn’t stay for long after you take the mask off.

As I began to apply the mix of honey and black sugar, I lightly massaged the product all over my face, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes (the instructions say to leave the product on for 10-15 minutes, but if needed you could leave it on for an additional 10 minutes or so). I rinsed off the mask after following the directions with warm water using small circular motions to make sure the sugar scrub is exfoliating my entire face. Of course you never want to scrub too hard since it is a scrub and there are visible black sugar granules. The honey moisturized my skin and left my face feeling soft.

I assumed this mask would be sticky, but it isn’t sticky like you would expect from a mask with honey in it. It is a fairly thick consistency, but as the product is applied, it is easy to spread on the face (Make sure to shake the product well before you apply! This mixes the honey and sugar mixture together).  The sugar in the mask makes a light exfoliator that isn’t harsh on the face when applying and washing off, but still works well to give the skin a soft and glowing finish.  This mask is gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin. This is great for a weekly polish or when your skin is especially dry or irritated. I have noticed the difference it makes when I take extra steps in my skincare when I am busy and stressed out. Within a few uses, I have noticed my skin starting to clear up and feeling overall healthier.
